How does tooth whitening work?
The whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes may be able to eliminate some of the more superficial stains , but only the bleaching chemicals agents can remove the most difficult and deep discolorations .
The active bleaching agent ( hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide ) , contained in a new whitening gels in our study , penetrates into the enamel to reach the molecules responsible for the stains without side effects to teeth.
Free radicals of oxygen released from the agent decomposition of these molecules , making them no longer visible.
