In the last decade, in prosthetic dentistry, the CAD CAM technology has allowed the development of new techniques and the use of both new so-called metal-free materials such as zirconium oxide, or zirconia called the lithium disilicate, that the processing of some metals with techniques of sintering and high density acrylic resins.
The CAD CAM technology allows, through a 3D scanner, the reading of a master model of the prepared teeth or the location of the plants.
Consequently, it is replaced classical (and annoying !!!!) impression with the viscous material placed on a tray and then into the patient's mouth for several minutes, with a much more 'comfortable and fast digital scanning of the area of interest.
Subsequently, through a specific software, the technician processes the data, realizes the design and sends it to the CAM machine tool, which realizes the full piece in the chosen material for the prosthetic reconstruction.
In our Office we have available Carestream CS 3500 intraoral scanner, with which we have already 'made numerous cases of disilicate inlays, crowns of natural teeth or implants is zirconia which disilicate, increasing even more the comfort of our patients, today, they have a reason not to complain about the sessions in our Office.
